Meet the team, Samun Omer shares some information about her ideal client and what she likes to do outside of work. As we have not been able see our clients and network face to face for a while we thought we’d help you get to know us a bit more with our occasional ‘meet the team’ series.

- What do you do?
I am a junior bookkeeper at Holy Brook. I have been working for Holy Brook for over a year now. As part of the finance team, my job is to do bookkeeping for some of our clients. I also assist my senior colleagues with bookkeeping and preparing year-end accounts.Apart from bookkeeping and assisting my senior colleagues I also write blog posts for Holy Brook which I equally enjoy doing.
- Why are you a Holy Brooker?
I chose to become a Holy Brooker because I believe that I have the education and experience required for this position. I am part AAT qualified and hold a degree in Business Economics from Canada. I have over 2 years of experience as an account assistant before working at Holy Brook.
As an associate at Holy Brook, I get to do many new things that have been beneficial for my career. This role has made me come out of my comfort zone and developed me.
My senior colleagues are very helpful and supportive. Holy Brook has allowed me to enrol in the BPP apprenticeship program through which I have been able to continue my AAT qualification.
I also like the fact that my job is very flexible, I am a mother and cannot work full time. I could manage my job with the school runs with the option of working from home whenever I am unable to come to the office.
- What do you like most about working/ living in and Around Reading?
I have been living in Reading for over 8 years now. I love living in Reading because it’s multicultural and the community is very nice and welcoming. As a Muslim South Asian, I have access to many Asian grocery stores and mosques.
I also like living here because the public transport is very good and there are also lots of shops in Reading, some of my friends come from other areas to shop in Reading.
- What are your favourite things to do outside working with Holy Brook?
I like to cook; I usually make onion bhajis for the Holy Brook Bake Sales! I also like to keep fit and exercise regularly to promote physical well-being in the workplace.
- Who or what would be your ideal client or project?
As an associate at Holy Brook, my clients are very nice because most of my clients are well organised and promptly respond to my queries.
My ideal clients would be non-profit organisations/clients based in Reading; by providing my services to them I feel I am giving back to the community of Reading. At Holy Brook many of our clients are charities and we also offer discounts to our clients that are charities. Holy Brook also has a Charity of the year, where we annually choose a charity and provide them with our services for free.
